Everton in ongoing talks for striker on deadline as Joao Pedro and Hwang Hee-chan named

Everton are in “ongoing” talks over signing another new forward to add to Frank Lampard’s squad on deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (1 September, page 74) that Watford’s Joao Pedro and Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan are among those under discussion.

It is understood that Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz and Chelsea’s Armando Broja are also on Everton’s radar as they eye last-minute recruitments to bolster their attack before the 11pm transfer deadline on Thursday night.

Last-ditch rush

Everton know how to make deadline day exciting, don’t they?

But they should have really tried to wrap their business up for the summer way before this point because Lampard is going to have to work extra hard on the training ground to get his late additions up to speed.

If we’d have signed Neal Maupay sooner, we wouldn’t have had to worry about the Premier League’s registration period being shortened due to the Bank Holiday weekend.

And if we’d have brought in players back in June or early July, maybe there’d be more cohesion in a team that’s yet to win in the league so far this term.

Everton’s forward line lost a lot of quality when Richarlison joined Spurs but that happened two months ago now.

Maupay is basically his replacement and he’s only just arrived from Brighton and it seems Lampard and Kevin Thelwell still aren’t happy with the number of their options in the attack.

We feel that leaving it this late opens you up to be ripped off or to make a panic buy.

Hwang, 26, would be just that as he’s been poor for Wolves and Sky Sports reported via their Transfer Centre on 24 August (08:38pm) that the South Korean is valued up to £25million.

Everton, literally, cannot afford that due to their financial situation so we wouldn’t be too shocked if no one is signed to add to the front line.
