Everton very close to finalising Manchester United midfielder James Garner signing on transfer deadline day
Everton are reportedly very close to finalising a move for Manchester United midfielder James Garner on transfer deadline day.
According to Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers, the Toffees are all but set to make the deal official for the English midfielder.
He also claims that Idrissa Gueye is equally close and both players will be announced by the club later on September 1.
Via Twitter, Myers wrote, “James Garner deal to Everton very close to completion.”
When asked about Gueye, he replied, “Think that is done, just announcement.”
Excitement building
The Toffees moved quickly to secure Garner’s services from Manchester United despite him being on the radar of other clubs this summer.
A £14million bid would’ve gotten the job done and that’s precisely what’s happened as Everton have heavily bolstered their midfield this summer.
With Gueye’s addition, they’re getting the perfect blend of young blood and experience and all their players are extremely talented.
Now, it remains to be seen who they bring in to lead the line this season as Neal Maupay’s arrival may not be enough for them.
He has struggled to bag goals at Brighton and may have a tough time leading the line at Everton – where the pressure is higher.
It’s a different style of football under Frank Lampard and the direct game may suit him, but he’s still unreliable and a wide forward who can get goals needs to be priortised.
Hopefully, the club are in talks with a few players and have the money to shell out as this is no time to mess around.
