No buy-back option as Everton look to complete James Garner transfer

Everton will pay an initial fee of £9 million to sign James Garner from Manchester United, as per James Ducker.

The Telegraph journalist wrote on Twitter on 1 September that the deal includes a sell-on clause where Manchester United will be entitled to 20 per cent of the profit on any future sale.

However, there is no buy-back clause in the deal, which is a big relief, as the player is very highly-rated.

Happy window

Despite losing Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, Everton can be very satisfied with their business dealings.

They have bolstered their defence by adding experienced players like Conor Coady, Ruben Vinagre and James Tarkowski.

Likewise, they have added quality in the attacking midfield areas by landing Dwight McNeil.

Amadou Onana is already looking like a class signing, and the youngster can only get better. They have added a striker as well, by landing Neal Maupay from Brighton.

Everton

The potential additions of Garner and Idrissa Gueye will give them a massive lift. The experience of Gueye will come handy, while Lampard will hope to develop Garner into a top-quality Premier League player in years to come.

The biggest takeaway is that the club have done well to keep hold of Anthony Gordon who was targeted by Chelsea.

Ideally, Lampard would want at least one more signing, especially in the wing areas, but he would be very pleased with the squad he has at his disposal.
