Everton ace Anthony Gordon could be subject of Newcastle January interest

Everton winger Anthony Gordon could be the subject of a January transfer move by mega-rich Newcastle United, according to i News.

The Billionaire-owned Magpies were interested in the 21-year-old this summer but Financial Fair Play restricted how they could spend their money over the off-season.

As a result, they had to pull out of their pursuit of the homegrown Everton youngster but the Toon could revisit Gordon and other missed targets in the January transfer window.

i News reported on 2 September that more funds would become available to Eddie Howe midway through the season to further improve the current crop of players at St James’ Park.

There is a possibility that they opt for an initial loan move too having not used any of their available slots over the summer to bring in a temporary solution to the problem.

Payday

In Newcastle United and Chelsea, Gordon has two of the biggest spenders in world football chasing after him and that could be massively beneficial for Everton.

There is a chance that they could effectively host an auction between the two rival clubs to see who is willing to pay more to sign the England Under-21 international.

His talent is unquestionable and the ceiling will be high if he keeps his feet on the ground but the potential monetary value that he could bring in for Everton is too good to resist.

Frank Lampard could fix three of four problems with his squad all at once using just the money from Gordon’s sale let alone the cash that Farhad Moshiri might be able to put into the club.

It won’t be a popular decision with the fans if either Newcastle or Chelsea manage to sign him in January (or even next summer) but in the grand scheme of things, it would be the right move for the Toffees.
