Andy Townsend drools over Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford v Liverpool
Andy Townsend was full of praise for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as the Toffees earned a brilliant 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Saturday (3 September).
Towards the end of the first half, Liverpool created a dangerous opening, where both Darwin Nunez and Luiz Dias had hit the post twice in quick succession.
Jordan Pickford made a stunning save to deny Nunez, and Townsend was full of praise for the Toffee’s goalkeeper.

“The run was brilliant, the chest was exquisite and the volley… and the save was top-class,” said Townsend on Premier League Global feed (3 September, 42:25 min).
Brave
The Toffees are still searching for their first league win of the season, but Frank Lampard will be very happy with the performance.
The home side nearly got the opening goal through Tom Davies, but they were very unfortunate that it hit the woodwork.
Likewise, credit should go to Pickford for pulling off a stunning save to deny Nunez in the first half. In fact, throughout the game, the Everton defence stayed resolute.

Lampard will be very pleased with the efforts of his defenders, while the likes of Amadou Onana and Neal Maupay looked lively throughout the game. Of course, Anthony Gordon was equally brilliant.
There is nothing left to say about Pickford. He was the pillar of strength for the club last season, and he is absolutely immense for the club.
This is also a big season for Tom Davies. Considering his contract situation, he needs to prove a point to his manager that he is good enough to contribute at top level for the club in the long run.
