Dan Plumley has insisted that Stake’s latest “Insane” promotional push is not a good look for Everton whatsoever in the past month.

Stake has offered $10 for every customer who spends $5,000, something that was plastered with Everton players in their branding for the offer.

Plumley admitted that it was “bonkers” and won’t help any efforts to get betting partners blocked in the Premier League which has been mentioned recently.

“When you see that figure and you see the Tweet that went out, it is bonkers,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“I don’t know why people put these things out and think it will go all right, especially given the direction of travel we have seen in recent years. That’s absolutely crazy and that’s not even promoting safe gambling, so I think it then will see more of a spotlight and things like that.

“When you look at the clubs as a collective trying to block this, then examples of this will be brought up and it doesn’t look great for Everton. That’s just an absolutely insane figure to put out there about how that partner rewards their customers, it’s linked to Everton as well as it has got the players in it and Everton branding so not the best look at all.

“It won’t help the cause of getting it blocked.”

This is complete madness.

Everton have since told Stake to leave their branding off such offers, with the promotion not available for customers in the United Kingdom despite being laced with Toffees [The Guardian].

It was also called the “Everton Road to Glory” after the EFL Cup win over Fleetwood, something that looks to have gone out without permission from the club, as they were unaware of it.

Either way, it has been widely criticised and given what has followed, it is unlikely to be seen again.
