Ben Godfrey raves about two Everton summer signings

Ben Godfrey has showered heaps of praise on Everton summer signings James Tarkowski and Conor Coady.

The Toffees defender has hailed them as “great additions” and suggests that the club have made “massive” improvements in terms of personality under Frank Lampard.

Both the new signings have made an impact already for the club, and there’s more to come from them.

“They’re [Coady and Tarkowski] great additions,” said Godfrey to Everton’s official website.

“Good guys and good footballers – you don’t need me to say that because we’ve all seen them over the years and how good they’ve been.

“We’ve made massive improvements in terms of the personality and additions to the squad.

“They’re great guys to be around and we’ll use every bit of that. They’ll help us kick on.”

Need results

Godfrey picked up an injury in the opening game against Chelsea, and he is now eyeing a return shortly.

Frank Lampard will have terrific depth at the back when Godfrey returns. He will have as many as five central defenders, and the Toffees should perform better at the back.

Coady has been superb for the Toffees, particularly against Liverpool. Tarkowski has also been a consistent figure in all these games.

Both these players are vastly experienced, and the Toffees probably have a better squad now with them in the side.

The Toffees are yet to win a Premier League game this season, but they have picked up four draws in a row.

They should now convert them into wins. Everton face an in-form Arsenal team away from home, and once again they need to be very solid at the back.

It won’t be a bad result if they can get a draw away at the Emirates, and they should head into this game with loads of positivity after their impressive performance against Liverpool.
