Trabzonspor launch late move for Everton winger Andros Townsend before transfer deadline
Everton winger Andros Townsend is a surprise target for Trabzonspor in the final hours of the Turkish transfer window, according to a report from Fanatik.
The 31-year-old featured 27 times for the club last season after arriving on a free transfer from Crystal Palace, before an ACL injury ruined his season with seven goals scored and four assists in all competitions.
He reported at the start of September that he was only just over half way back in his rehabilitation from the injury [Qatar2022.qa via Liverpool Echo], suggesting he would return somewhere between October and after the winter World Cup.

Despite that it appears that Townsend is being lined up for a move to Turkey after other targets fell through in search of a replacement for their own injured player, Edin Visca.
According to Fanatik, he would like to leave Goodison Park and if agreement can be reached between the clubs he would move for what is quoted as a “reasonable price”.
Odd
With Dele Alli already at Besiktas and a potential exit to the Super Lig for Salomon Rondon still not entirely off the table it appears that Everton have become a go-to destination for teams in need in that area.
But why Trabzonspor would react to an injury to their player by attempting to sign replacement who us also not yet fit and hasn’t played since March makes little sense.
If Frank Lampard thinks he has enough options in the squad without the former England international, as he has had to find a way to manage for months already, then perhaps the chance of some added funds might be interesting.

But since there is no opportunity to do anything with them until January and because the player is certainly not going to reach that big of a fee it seems like a waste unless he agitates to go.
Initial reports of Dele’s move appear to be positive and Townsend has already had some rotten luck with the Toffees so it could be an attractive option for him to make a new start.
With the Turkish transfer window not closing until Thursday (8 September) this is one to keep an eye on in the final hours.
