Everton starlet Ishe Samuels-Smith spotted in first-team training

Everton are hard at work in training to prepare for their next Premier League fixture and there is a very young starlet with the first team.

Promising young left-back Ishe Samuels-Smith has joined up with Frank Lampard’s senior squad this week to test his mettle against the most senior players at Finch Farm, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The 16-year-old only signed his scholarship agreement with the Toffees over the summer despite interest from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

But he has impressed many of the coaches at Everton including the former Academy director David Unsworth and current Under-18s manager Leighton Baines.

Samuels-Smith could well find himself included in the senior squad for upcoming Premier League games if injuries strike some of Everton’s defenders once more.

Process

Lampard has proven during his time at Derby County and Chelsea that he is always willing and keen to give the club’s academy stars a chance to shine on the big stage and that looks set to continue with the Toffees.

Samuels-Smith is just one of a host of homegrown talents who could make their senior debuts this season if things go their way with Lewis Warrington already appearing off the bench in the Carabao Cup against Fleetwood Town.

Due to the club’s progression in that competition, more chances could soon be around the corner for the likes of Samuels-Smith and his colleagues.

Lampard can’t just play them all at once of course with results still taking precedence over everything else as it should be but these talented youngsters could make the difference in some games.

Anthony Gordon has already started the trend and he could have been sold for £60million and more of that would be delightful for Lampard and Evertonians everywhere.
