Frank Lampard weighs in on Everton star Anthony Gordon’s contract saga
Frank Lampard has weighed in on Everton star Anthony Gordon’s contract issues, speaking at the pre-match press conference via the club’s YouTube channel.
Gordon nearly left Goodison Park this summer, with Chelsea hunting down Everton’s top academy graduate after an impressive first season in the Premier League.
Lampard admitted talks were ongoing with the 21-year-old and the club were looking to find “the right solution” for all parties involved.

“The club are speaking to Anthony and Anthony’s people to see if we can get the right solution,” Lampard said.
It seems that nothing concrete regarding his future has changed and this one will likely be an ongoing saga for the rest of the campaign.
Pivotal.
Gordon is a pivotal player for Lampard at Goodison and he’s obviously part of the former Chelsea boss’ wider plans after the club fended off interest this summer.
The Toffees again find themselves near the bottom of the table and they may want to keep a player of Gordon’s talents around if they want to secure Premier League safety this season.
Lampard also highlighted in his press conference that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ready to return to the matchday squad and it will be interesting to see how Gordon and the forward can link up together.
There’s no doubt the interest from Chelsea and likely other Premier League teams will be tough to fight off, but if Everton can get a good string of results going, it may tempt Gordon into a new contract.
The youngster still has his best years to come, hopefully for Evertonians that will be in a Blue shirt, if not they will have to use the money earned from him to reinvest in the squad; we all know how this has gone down before.
