Frank Lampard gushes over ‘quality’ Everton summer signing Idrissa Gana Gueye

Frank Lampard has been left seriously impressed with Everton summer signing Idrissa Gana Gueye, speaking highly of the Everton summer signing in Sunday’s programme notes for the clash against West Ham.

Gueye came on as a substitute during the Merseyside derby and immediately showed why Everton brought him back to the club.

Lampard admitted that Gueye will be a “big player” for the Toffees this season and he’ll be looking to utilise the Senegalese midfielder as much as possible throughout the campaign.

“Idrissa Gana Gueye immediately displayed the experience and quality he will give us in his substitute appearance,” said Lampard.

“He’s fitted in like he’s never been away and will be a big player for us.”

High praise from the Everton boss for Gueye and the thought of him bossing things in Everton’s midfield this campaign is a mouth-watering prospect.

Despite being 33 years old, Gueye brings a wealth of experience with him back to Goodison Park, playing with some of the world’s top talents at Paris Saint-Germain.

This is a priceless attribute to have with the club currently fighting near the bottom of the table; Gueye’s calm, cool and collected nature will be needed in this campaign.

Alongside Amadou Onana and Alex Iwobi, Lampard has an intriguing new midfield three on his hands, the trio showed how good they can be against Liverpool.

Gueye can be the glue to hold together this new and youthful midfield and can bring out the best in Onana and Iwobi.

The midfielder will be able to do the dirty work, allowing Iwobi and Onana to flourish moving forward, something Everton’s midfield has lacked this season.

The West Ham game will be the perfect opportunity to unleash Gueye and hopefully, he’ll become a regular starter in Lampard’s new look setup.
