Everton find their dream centre-back pairing of Conor Coady, James Tarkowski
Everton started the season on a poor note but on Sunday, they finally had a good outing and managed to secure their first win of the current league campaign.
It was Neal Maupay’s goal that proved to be the difference as the Toffees managed to secure a 1-0 triumph against West Ham [Premier League].
While the former Brighton striker was the star player for the home team, it was actually the work of two other players who made the win possible for the Merseyside club and they were Conor Coady and James Tarkowski.
Everton came in this campaign off the back of a horrible season where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.
One of the reasons why the Toffees struggled in the previous season was because of their defensive problems where they kept leaking goals.
It was clear that manager Frank Lampard was eager to address that issue and therefore, he ended up signing most players in that department.
Two of those players were Coady and Tarkowski who were extremely impressive for their respective clubs–Wolves and Burnley.
Their arrival has definitely brought a breath of fresh air, at least in the defensive department where the side is once again looking formidable after a very long time.
What these two have done is make Everton very hard to break and that’s exactly what did in the match against the Hammers where they collectively made 13 clearances, four interceptions and blocked five shots [Whoscored].
The fans will be hoping to see the duo continue producing similar kinds of performances to ensure that the Merseyside club will not have a similar campaign to what they had last year.
