Richard Buxton left stunned by former Everton manager Rafael Benitez

Journalist Richard Buxton has been left stunned by Rafael Benitez’s latest comments on his time spent at Goodison Park.

Benitez endured a torrid time at Everton, leaving the club in a less than favourable position in the Premier League table and fighting relegation.

Buxton was quick to highlight that Benitez was the “shortest-serving manager” in the club’s history and that the Spaniard’s latest comments were the “same old” Benitez.

Speaking via his Twitter page, Buxton spoke of his discontent with the comments made by the former Everton and Liverpool boss.

“More waffle from the shortest-serving manager in Everton’s history,” he said.

“He’s very quick to complain about things he wasn’t allowed to do but conveniently ignores how he took a wrecking ball to the entire first-team structure unchallenged. Same old Benitez.”

The journalist makes a lot of solid points in his rampaging Tweet; the Blues and Benitez were never meant to be after his time at Liverpool.

And the fact that Benitez stated in the interview that “I was red. At Everton, I couldn’t do it.” all but proves it was a pointless appointment in the first place.

The comments about his time now wring insignificantly, Benitez failed to succeed at Goodison Park and that’s the bottom line of it.

It begs the question as to why the Spaniard accepted the job in the first place; if he knew he was on the other team on Merseyside’s side.

The abysmal football his Everton team played last season is hard to etch out of the memory but this interview has made it rear it’s ugly head once again.

It’s time for all parties to move on, this conversation ended when Frank Lampard took over the reins at the Toffees.
