Anthony Gordon new Everton deal will likely have exit clauses

Everton forward Anthony Gordon will likely have clauses in his new contract that will allow him to move to any big club, as per Dean Jones.

The former Bleacher Report journalist said to Give Me Sport (20 September) that such clauses will ensure that he is not stuck at the Merseyside club.

Gordon was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, but the deal didn’t materialise in the end.

“The contract would include clauses so that if a bigger team does come in for him with an acceptable offer, he is not stuck at Everton and will still be able to leave,” said Jones to Give Me Sport.

Situation

During the summer, it appeared that Gordon could move to Chelsea.

Having sold Richarlison already, the Toffees were determined to keep hold of their key player, and they did it successfully.

The Toffees valued him at around £60m, and Frank Lampard hailed him as a “huge player” for the club, as relayed by 90 Min (26 August).

Gordon has made an impressive start to the season, scoring twice already. He is a fantastic young talent, and the Toffees see him as one of their assets.

Everton

Frank Lampard suggested recently as relayed by Liverpool Echo (16 September) that Everton are planning to offer Gordon a new contract offer.

Give Me Sport suggests that that latest offer would be around £60,000 per week, which is six times his current wage. However, Gordon would still want clauses in his contract that will allow him to leave if there’s a really big offer on the table from a big club.

It could work well for the Toffees as well. They can insert a massive buy-back clause which they feel is suitable, and any potential suitor will have to meet that amount.
