Conor Coady drools over Everton teammate Neal Maupay

Conor Coady has showered praise on Everton teammate Neal Maupay, saying he is a “fantastic” striker.

Maupay, who joined in the summer transfer window from Brighton, scored the only goal of the match against West Ham (18 September) as the Toffees picked up their first win of the season.

He adds that everyone in the squad believes in Maupay’s ability and they have full confidence in him.

“We always believe in him,” said Coady, as relayed by Everton’s official website.

“We have such confidence in Neal and we know what a fantastic finisher he is. He showed that again. What a goal it was… that touch and finish, it was a real striker’s finish. It’s what he can do.

“He’s a fantastic footballer and he’s brought us ever so much.”

Impact

The summer signings have made a big impact on the squad this season, and there’s no doubt that the Toffees have a better squad now.

They lost Richarlison in the summer who moved to Tottenham Hotspur but the Toffees have added several quality players in almost every position.

The midfield has been bolstered by the arrivals of James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana, while Lampard has added depth in defence by signing Conor Coady and James Tarkowski.

However, the addition of Maupay has given the squad a huge boost.

Everton were crying out for a striker for a long time, and they finally managed to land one. While Maupay doesn’t boast a great scoring record, there’s no doubt about his talent.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will still be the club’s first-choice striker, but Maupay will push him for the starting role. The healthy competition could bring out the best in both the players.
