Neal Maupay could prove to be the most inspired signing at Everton
This has been a massive summer transfer window for Everton where Frank Lampard has signed as many as eight new players.
There is no doubt that the squad is much better than what it was last season. The introduction of new players has added depth and quality and this is reflected in the results.
After a stuttering start, the Toffees are now undefeated in their last five league games, and they have managed to pick up their first win as well last week against West Ham.
One of the new signings that have made a strong impact is Neal Maupay.
The striker joined from Brighton in the summer, and he opened his scoring against the Hammers and earned all three points for his side.
Maupay could turn out to be an inspired signing from Frank Lampard.
Conor Coady has hailed him as a “fantastic” striker, adding that everyone has confidence in his ability.
Maupay doesn’t boast a fabulous scoring record, but he could still become a key component of this side. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still around, the Toffees now have a strong attacking unit.
The defence and the midfield have been bolstered this summer, and Everton have displayed their solidity after keeping two clean sheets in a row.
However, goals win matches, and this is where Maupay can play an important part. With Calvert-Lewin’s injury a concern, if he can chip in with 10-12 goals this season, the Toffees can expect to grind out more wins as the season progresses.
This is a team built on a strong defensive foundation, and goals are vital here. Everton were linked with a host of strikers this summer, but Maupay’s addition now looks like a smart decision already.
