Simon Jordan slams Rafael Benitez after latest comments on Everton

Simon Jordan has brandished Rafael Benitez a “nightmare” to work with after the Spaniard made comments on his time with Everton.

The 62-year-old revealed (Sky Sports, 21 September) how his Liverpool ties made it impossible for him to succeed during his spell at Goodison Park.

Jordan was less than convinced with the veteran manager and left a scathing review of his comments live on talkSPORT.

Talking on talkSPORT White and Jordan [21 September, 10:10] he said: “I’ve always had an issue with Benitez because I think he is a nightmare to work with.

“He put every single reason out there about how it wasn’t his fault when his team stank, they were awful at times Everton.

Wants a job

Benitez has suddenly come back into the spotlight purely because he fancies another shot in the Premier League after his miserable spell at Goodison Park.

Hiring the former Liverpool boss was among the strangest and worst decisions the club has ever made, with the majority of Evertonians staunchly against his appointment.

Considering where the club found itself under his tenure, it’s so refreshing to have Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard both aligned in what their long-term aspirations for the club are.

Even though the results haven’t been the best, there is a really good feeling around the club with fans convinced the Toffees are heading in the right direction.

If Benitez was still in charge and Everton had started with one win from their opening seven games the majority of fans would’ve been calling for his head.

Managers like Benitez will soon find their place in the modern game completely outdated, with the likes of Lampard and Steven Gerrard being the go-to mould of managers for the clubs to appoint.
