Everton scalp will be extra motivation for Liverpool fan Ange Postecoglu

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu is extra keen to beat Everton when the Toffees head to Australia for the Sydney Super Cup in November.

The Hoops were due to play against Old Firm rivals Rangers down under but the Gers pulled out of the tournament after backlash from supporters and the Toffees were called in as a late replacement.

The two sides will face off at Accor Stadium on 20 November and Postecoglu, a Liverpool fan, is very excited to get Frank Lampard’s side to his home country.

“It should be good. When overseas clubs come here, it’s always great, because people get to see their heroes close up,” he said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“The boys will be in good nick. It’ll be a real game against Sydney and against Everton. As you said, I wouldn’t mind knocking off Everton, that would be nice.

We’ve got some passionate fans down here. I guarantee the atmosphere will be something special. So it’ll be good games in a great atmosphere.”

Experience

The tour of the United States of America was not what Lampard and the rest of the Everton squad were hoping for but a lot has changed since then.

Everton

When the Toffees head down under to Australia during the World Cup break, it will be a very different-looking Everton side who challenge Celtic in Postecoglu’s backyard.

There is a new vibe around the group that they can take points off any team they come across and that spirit could do with continuing when a handful of the squad head to Qatar.

Nathan Patterson will be hoping his injury doesn’t rule him out of that trip with his own personal desire to give Celtic a good stuffing as a former Rangers player.

But most importantly, the entire group needs to return to Merseyside with no major knocks or injuries that could harm the club’s chances in the Premier League and other domestic competitions.
