Lewis Dobbin sends message to Everton talent Jenson Metcalfe as he pens new deal

Everton talent Jenson Metcalfe has penned a new deal at the Merseyside club, and Lewis Dobbin has sent him a brilliant message on Instagram.

The 18-year-old has signed a four-year deal at the club which would keep him at Finch Farm until at least 2026.

He has been at the club’s academy since the age of five, and he dreams of representing the club’s senior side.

Metcalfe took to Instagram to share a picture of him signing the new deal.

He wrote: “Delighted to have signed a new long term contract [with Everton] This year has not gone the way I would have wished, but I am doing everything with my rehab to get me back better and stronger. The hard work continues.”

Dobbin, who is on loan at Derby County, replied: “Congrats Bro.”

Deserved

Everton have a tradition of promoting young talents from the academy.

There are some fantastic players in the academy who are almost ready to join the senior side.

Dobbin is one of them, and Metcalfe is also someone who could be drafted into the senior side once he returns from injury.

The long-term contract represents that the club believes in the youngster’s potential.

He is currently on the verge of recovery after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He is going through a rehabilitation process to get back to full fitness.

Metcalfe told Evertontv : “The club means everything to me. It really is a dream to sign this contract and play here and is a reward for me and my family for all our hard work.

“It’s very important for me to have that faith from the club. I’ve not had the year I wanted to because of the injury but this has given me joy.

This is also important to note that these players must have felt that they have a great opportunity now to progress to the senior side.

Having been at the club for so long, he would love to be a part of the senior side. Under Lampard, he probably has got the best chance to do it.

Lampard has got a great track record of working with young talents, and surely he would love to give Metcalfe an opportunity in the side if he keeps on progressing.
