Sky Sports pundit gushes over Demarai Gray during Everton v Southampton
Garry Birtles was pleased with Demarai Gray’s recovery after he put in a poor corner for Everton v Southampton on Saturday.
In the first half of the Premier League clash, Gray had a chance to pile on the pressure on Saints after a good phase of play.
However, he put in a woeful corner but made up for it with a terrific delivery into the box that almost saw Conor Coady putting it into the back of the net.

Birtles, a Sky Sports pundit, said on the Premier League world feed (15:24), “From a poor corner to an absolutely brilliant ball into the box. Terrific delivery and Coady almost got there.”
Good performance
Everton have been the better side by far and are unlucky not to be in the lead in this one.
They have controlled possession, defended better and their players appear to be on the same page and the same thing cannot be said about Saints.
They’ve looked all over the place and it will be two points dropped if Everton fail to win this one.
Southampton have not even registered an attempt on goal and Jordan Pickford could be chilling on the beach and it would not have affected the scoreline.
Gray and Dwight McNeil have both been quality but Neal Maupay has struggled to get into the game so far.
We’re expecting to see more of him in the second period and Lampard could remove Idrissa Gueye for a more mobile player like Anthony Gordon or James Garner as this game is there for the taking for his side and we’re expecting a few goals once the second half begins.
