Sky Sports pundit excited Everton could still sign Mohammed Kudus after player confirms interest
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Mohammed Kudus would be a “really good signing” for Everton if they can complete a deal after the original move was “rug-pulled” by Ajax, says Kevin Campbell.
The Toffees were close to signing the Ghanian international before the end of the transfer window, with the player doing his best to get the move over the line, but after selling Antony to Manchester United the Dutch side refused to let him go.
With Kudus, 22, since confirming in an interview with NOS (18 September) that he wanted to make the switch to Goodison, Sky Sports pundit Campbell believes the deal is “still there” to be done in future windows.

He exclusively told Goodison News: “I’m sure it would depend on the Champions League, and Ajax obviously.
“But I think the young man looks like he was set on moving to Goodison Park wasn’t he?
“So if you’re set on moving to Everton and the deal gets rug-pulled, then fair enough, you do the business for the club [Ajax], but it’s still there.
“I think most of it was agreed. I believe it was just that Ajax said at the last minute, ‘No, we don’t want the deal to go through’.
“Because they’d sold that many players and made that much money they needed some time to count it, they’d made that much dough.
“He looks a handful, looks a good player, and scored a really good goal at Anfield.
“Hey listen, that could be a really good signing if he’s available.”

Despite shining for the Eredevisie side so far this year, with seven goals and an assist across 11 appearances in all competitions, Kudus still isn’t seen as a player who is expected to play all of every game.
The two eye-catching Champions League games, where he scored great goals against both Rangers and Liverpool, are his two longest appearances this year, as he has only started a quarter of his side’s league games.
There is every possibility that Kudus therefore still has his eye on completing the move that was blocked previously, and should Ajax not make it to the Champions League knockout stages the door could even be open for a January deal.
