Everton sings the praises of midfielder Alex Iwobi after elite performance against Southampton
Everton took to Twitter to magnify the importance of Alex Iwobi in the club’s 2-1 win against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Iwobi has been elite so far this season for Everton and has gained many plaudits for his never say die attitude in the middle of the park for the Blues.
Everton’s official Twitter account highlighted a heat map of Iwobi at Saint Mary’s claiming the midfielder “never stopped” running in the classy win.
The silky stats mentioned are the perfect snack for Evertonians to feast on and bode well for the midfielder’s future as the general of the Toffees engine room.
Iwobi managed one assist, two key passes from open play, five pressure regains, and 13 ball recoveries in the gritty comeback win against the Saints.

Settled.
Iwobi has never looked more settled in his career than he does now and is putting in unbelievable performances for Frank Lampard’s team week in, week out.
It seems the midfielder has realised that maximum effort in games gets the fanbase on his side and since he has done this his scintillating performances have improved.
The 26-year-old’s quality is finally showing and he’s dragging his teammates on an upwards trajectory with him, Everton’s midfield hasn’t looked this good for a long time.
Attitude and work rate goes a long way with Evertonians but Iwobi has shown he has the quality and passion to match this, he could be one of the great Blues if he carries on.
Lampard’s decision to deploy Iwobi in the centre of midfield has paid off big time, if he can add goals and assists to his game on a regular basis, he can be an all-rounder.
Everton’s engine room has been mended, let’s see how far it can race this campaign.
