Everton and Bournemouth set to be taken over by Americans – BBC News journalist

Everton and Bournemouth are set for American takeovers as the US influence on Premier League football continues to grow, according to BBC News journalist Dan Roan.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning (7 October), Roan shared an interview with Leeds’ vice-chairman Paraag Marathe, an American businessman who could eventually take total control at Elland Road.

While sharing that interview, BBC’s Roan added that “Bournemouth and Everton set to become the 11th and 12th Premier League clubs owned or co-owned by Americans.”

Jumping the gun?

When Roan is saying that we’re set for a takeover – or at least a partial takeover – then you assume that the deal is close to being done.

But that doesn’t seem to the case.

Roan is a big-time journalist with the BBC so you’d hope he’s right as Farhad Moshiri does need some financial help after losing the support of Alisher Usmanov as a result of sanctions against businessmen with links to Russia.

Moshiri needs most help with paying for the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and it seems as though Polish-borm US businessman Maciek Kaminski could be buying into Everton for that reason.

The Times journalist Paul Joyce reported earlier this week (5 October) that Moshiri could offer a minority shareholding to help pay for the £550million stadium.

Everton

However, at the time of reporting, it was understood that “no agreement with Kaminski is close”.

And then there’s LAMF Global Ventures Corp.

LA-based producers Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman have shown an interest in buying Everton and have set up “a special purpose acquisition company” in order to take control at Goodison Park.

It remains to be seen whether or not that will be completed or whether Moshiri will listen to any offers to sell the club.

But it does seem more likely that he’ll sell off shares to Kaminski at this point and that’s what Roan could be pointing to.
