Tom Davies is yet to be offered a new deal by Everton

Tom Davies has played 165 times for Everton since bursting onto the scene in 2017 after coming through the academy at Goodison Park.

Davies, 24, was highly rated during the early part of his career and looked destined to be one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents. Sadly for the Everton midfielder, he has never quite hit the heights expected of him.

However, this season he does seem to have regained some of his form, particularly against Liverpool at Goodison Park, where his 62-minute cameo certainly caught the eye.

However, he has only started four Premier League fixtures and there is a decision for Everton to make very soon when it comes to his future at the club. Davies’ current deal runs until the summer of 2023, and he is yet to be offered a new deal.

The Liverpool Echo suggested (7 September) that the midfielder will be offered new terms at the club, however, with January looming, Everton do need to decide what the future holds for the midfielder.

If a decision isn’t made from now until January, then there could be every chance that interest from elsewhere does ramp up. Davies could well be sold in January to avoid losing him for free in the summer.

The club hierarchy should certainly be looking to get him committed to the club long-term. He has shown he has the technical ability to be a vital part of the Toffees’ midfield, and with Frank Lampard in charge, he is likely to be given more opportunities.

Davies’ future should be top of the club’s priorities in the coming weeks.
