Everton boss Frank Lampard lauds Conor Coady and James Tarkowski for setting good standards at Everton
Everton boss Frank Lampard is singing the praises of centre-back duo Conor Coady and James Tarkowski for setting good standards at the club.
The new Everton summer signing’s have had a terrific start to life at Goodison Park and have helped the club to hold the current best defensive record in the Premier League.
Lampard confessed that the pair are setting “good standards” for the rest of the team, highlighting it’s the competition within the club keeping their levels high.

“It’s important that they’re setting good standards. It’s not just Conor and Tarky but the good competition we have means you have to get to those levels,” said Lampard as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“The players that want to come into the team have to sustain it to get in the team.”
True.
Lampard’s comments ring true, Coady and Tarkowski’s good form will only seep through the first team and provide good competition for places.
And their good form is apparent for all to see, the Toffees have conceded the least amount of goals in the Premier League season so far.
The lack of goals conceded is a testament to the way Coady and Tarkowski have settled into life on Merseyside but also goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s heroics between the posts.
The duo has what it takes to be one of the greatest pairings the heart of Everton’s defence has ever seen, but it’s still early days and there is a long way to go.
Coady and Tarkowski’s gritty professionalism will be needed throughout the tough Premier League campaign and Lampard will be able to get the best out of them.
Their solid partnership bodes well for the Blues this season and the coming crusades ahead.
