Matheus Nunes performance for Wolves v Chelsea will certainly enrage Everton fans after Rafa Benitez decision
Everton fans will certainly be fuming after they are seeing how well Matheus Nunes did for Wolves v Chelsea on Saturday.
Despite being an inferior side that never looked likely to control proceedings or win the game, the Portugal international managed to stand out.
One clip in particular which made the rounds on social media was how he dribbled his way past the Chelsea press to carry the ball several yards and almost set up a decent chance for his side.
Everton, who were long-linked with the player in the summer of 2021, did not end up getting him.
Then director of football Marcel Brands and done all the groundwork to ensure that Nunes would move from Sporting CP to Goodison Park.
The Toffees were in dire need of a number right at the time and it was agreed upon that Nunes would be the perfect fit.
However, once Benitez came in, everything changed as he wanted a larger say in the incomings and outgoings at the club.
He possibly did not rate the midfielder highly and decided to pull the plug on that pursuit. [Record]
Seeing him kill it in the Premier League now will undoubtedly pinch the Toffees fans as he could’ve been wearing their blue jersey instead of joining Wolves.
Benitez clearly has done a lot of unforgivable things at Everton and we’re surprised that Farhad Moshiri even wanted him to join in the first place.
