Four Everton fringe players must be released this summer

Frank Lampard will be fully focused on the games coming up for Everton but he has to keep an eye on some expiring Goodison Park contracts.

A grand total of 10 players are set to see their contract with the Toffees come to an end on 1 July, two of which are the loans of Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre, and they would leave a big hole in the first-team squad.

Yerry Mina, Tom Davies, Seamus Coleman and Abdoulaye Doucoure should all be given new deals either to maintain their spot in the squad or provide a healthy cash boost when they are eventually sold.

But the other four players, according to Transfer Markt, should all be kept well away from the negotiating table with their Premier League careers well and truly behind them.

They are goalkeeping duo Asmir Begovic, 35, Andy Lonergan, 38, Andros Townsend, 31 and Salomon Rondon, 33, whose combined age totals an eye-watering 137 years.

The Toffees have not made a proper goalkeeper signing since Jordan Pickford came to the club from Sunderland and with himself attracting interest from other Premier League clubs, this summer could be the perfect time to change that and bring in two top-shot-stoppers to fight for the number one jersey should Pickford leave.

Rondon was handy to have around while only Dominic Calvert-Lewin resembled anything like a striker but Lampard splashed the cash on Neal Maupay this summer so the Venezuelan really is not needed anymore.

Townsend is perhaps the only one of the quartet who could have a cause for a new deal having been injured for some time but that is his main problem and means he is almost never fit to play.

There is no point in keeping a player who is never fit and with money getting ever tighter in the modern world, Everton need to just cut their losses and release him along with the aforementioned trio.
