Udinese want £17.6m fee for Everton-linked defender Rodrigo Becao in January

Udinese are reportedly eyeing a £17.6million fee for Tottenham Hotspur and Everton-linked defender Rodrigo Becao in January as he is now in the second last year of his deal.

According to Italian media outlet Messaggero on 12 October, the centre-back is yet to decide whether or not he is going to pen an extension amid links from the Toffees, Spurs and Inter Milan.

President Gino Pozzo wants a fee in the region of £17.6million for the Brazilian’s services amid the growing interest.

Everton

Not needed

It made sense for Everton to be linked with him in the summer as signing a defender was then a priority for them.

However, since then, they have signed Conor Coady and James Tarkowski and their defence does look sorted, as things stand.

In fact, it can be argued that their defence is their strongest area of the pitch and real reinforcements are needed in the final third.

As for Becao, he’s a decent defender but clearly isn’t worth what their chief wants for his services.

Also, with 18 months left on his contract in January, he should be available for a lot lower and we do not see any club paying that kind of money for him.

The club should be prioritising a move for a wide attacker and there must be some money in the back after their failed pursuit of Ben Brereton-Diaz on transfer deadline day this summer.
