Yerry Mina suffers injury setback – Early Everton team news v Tottenham confirmed by Frank Lampard

Everton will be without Yerry Mina – again – as they take on Tottenham in North London this weekend, Frank Lampard has confirmed.

There is good news for the Blues, however, as Abdoulaye Doucoure is available again while Mason Holgate has returned to training at Finch Farm.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin isn’t 100 per cent back in training yet but he is getting there too.

“Doucs had a family issue but is back in the squad for Saturday. Yerry had a setback and so won’t be available. Holgate is back in training,” said Lampard, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Thursday (13 October).

“He (DCL) is not taking part in every part of training. We will have to see over the days and weeks how we get him to that optimum level.”

Mina, 28, has been out of action since the opening-day defeat to Chelsea.

Big game

Once this weekend is done and dusted, Everton will have played four of the Premier League’s so-called big six and have a fairly favourable run of fixtures up until the World Cup break starts.

We’ve not won against any of those big teams yet this season with their two-match winning streak coming to an end last week at the hands of Manchester United.

But after playing against Spurs in North London on Saturday (15 October), Everton face a run of games that sees them take on Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leicester before a league and cup double versus Bournemouth.

Most of those games should be seen as winnable and while we don’t want to write off this game against Spurs, at least Everton will be safe in the knowledge that their fixtures get a lot easier once they’re done in North London this weekend.

Spurs have been in good form.

They’ve only lost once in the Premier League this season and Harry Kane has been on fire, scoring nine times in 13 appearances across all competitions.

It’ll take some doing for Everton to win this game, let’s put it that way.
