Yerry Mina leaving Goodison Park could open door for Rodrigo Becao to join Everton

Yerry Mina has been linked with a move away from Everton – and that could well open the door for Frank Lampard to sign Udinese’s Rodrigo Becao.

The Toffees have been long-term admirers of the Brazilian defender and have been told they will have to pay £17.6million for his services (Messaggero on 12 October).

It’s understood he’s yet to decide on whether to sign a new contract at the Italian club with interest beginning to ramp up from the Premier League and across Europe.

With his current deal coming to a close in 2024, Everton could pounce and secure a cut-price deal for the experienced defender.

Their hopes of signing Becao could also be helped should Mina finally leave Goodison Park. It’s understood that Inter Milan are willing to pay £8.8million (Calciomercato on 11 October) for the Colombian, who has endured a tough time on Merseyside of late.

If the 28-year-old does leave Goodison Park, it would not be a shock to see a move for Becao accelerate over the coming months. The Brazilian would add yet more experience to Lampard’s backline and would also be an option for at least five to six seasons considering he is only 26.

If Becao doesn’t sign a new deal at Udinese then Everton could snap him up for less than the £17.6million they’re asking for. However, the closer he gets to his contract expiring, the more suitors the defender will have to choose from.

Mina’s time at Goodison Park certainly needs to end and a ready-made replacement coming in straight away would be an ideal scenario for Lampard.
