Everton send coaching trio to Australia to strengthen affiliation
Everton recently sent three promising coaches to Australia to strengthen their affiliation with Joondalup City, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees are set to head down under during the World Cup break in November to play in the Sydney Super Cup against Celtic and Western Sydney Wanderers.
International Academy Technical Lead and Academy Coach Paddy Byrne led the Everton contingent which headed to Australia to link up with Joondalup City with a view to reviewing their recruitment and coaching the young players at the club.

“There is a strong British population in Perth and a strong Scouse population, with a lot of Evertonians,” Byrne said. “This visit is probably over two years later than we would have liked, due to the fact we couldn’t travel.
“I’ve spent hours on calls with their coaches over the past few years, so being able to finally go and meet them, make it more personal and build the relationship was wonderful and really beneficial.”
Far and wide
In the crazy old world of football, nobody can ever know where the next superstar might come from so clubs have to try and cast their net as far and wide as possible to try and get ahead of the curve.
If the Australian Lionel Messi does emerge from Joondalup City then the Toffees have made a wonderful start on improving their relationship with the club, even if that scenario seems highly unlikely.

It is always vital that clubs keep as many bridges up as possible and don’t ruin a relationship that could be needed further down the line because football is ever-changing nowadays.
The Sydney Super Cup offers a wonderful chance for Everton to increase their global reach while Frank Lampard will also have the chance to try out some of the fringe and youth players at Goodison Park too.
More tournaments like this, when the opportunity arises, have to be on the club’s radar to keep the whole entity moving forwards.
