Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Newcastle

Chris Sutton has predicted Newcastle to run out comfortable 2-0 winners against Everton when the two sides face each other on Wednesday night.

The Toffees are on the back of a defeat against Tottenham Hotspur while the Magpies will be proud of their draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

They will look to give it a go against Newcastle at St. James’ Park, but Sutton does not see them getting anything from this one.

Everton

He told the BBC, “Newcastle were a little unlucky not to win at Old Trafford, and they seem to have found a good balance in their team.

“Defensively they are sound and they also had a few chances against Manchester United – you can see why they are in the top six, and they probably should have even more points than they do.

“Everton have lost their past two games and I can see them struggling here too.”

Close encounter

Sutton makes this sound like Everton are playing one of the best teams in the league which is not the case.

Sure, Newcastle have enjoyed a good start to the season, but they’re still a mid-table club that’s just slightly better than the Toffees.

On an off day, they’re certainly there for the taking and an Everton side that shows will get the job done against them.

If not a win, Frank Lampard’s men will at least get a draw if they play as well they did against Liverpool – which was one of their performances of the season.

Lampard cannot go into this game ceding possession to the opposition and the Toffees have to play this one on their own terms.

We’ve got to see more from the attacking players as they’ve not performed to their level while the defenders and midfielders have really turned up this term.
