Frank Lampard must be one to lead Everton transfer revolution

There have been an awful lot of signings made by Everton in the past 10 years and it is now time for Frank Lampard to lead a change.

According to information gathered by CIES Football Observatory, Everton are among the clubs to have bought the oldest players on average in the past 10 years with only Chelsea, West Ham and Manchester United above them from the Premier League.

This data shows that a lot of the newcomers to Goodison Park have been arguably beyond their best and therefore a waste of money although there are some exceptions to the rule as there always are.

As that takes into account the previous 10 seasons, not all of the blame can necessarily lie on the people at the club right now with previous managers and directors of football causing much of the problems.

Lampard has already started to rectify these alarming figures having brought in the very young duo of James Garner and Amadou Onana late on in the summer transfer window.

But even then, the likes of James Tarkowski, Conor Coady and Idrissa Gana Gueye are not spring chickens which has probably evened out the summer’s business.

Now he has a solid starting side, however, the manager alongside Kevin Thelwell can begin to bring in younger players for the future while also bringing through some of Finch Farm’s own talent.

Of course, some experienced signings will be needed as no academy can solely produce talent good enough to remain in the Premier League but that is the same for any team.

There is no denying that a younger transfer search has to be the focus in the coming windows which should be enough to take the Toffees out of this worrying era and into a revolutionary new system for the football club.
