Sky Sports pundit delighted Everton now ready to tie down Alex Iwobi to with contract
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Alex Iwobi has proved a lot of people wrong and is now the “most consistent player” at Everton, according to former captain Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal man has been reborn in a central midfield role under Frank Lampard, who confirmed that a new deal is in the works in his prematch press conference on Thursday (13 October) before the trip to Tottenham.
Sky Sports pundit Campbell is delighted for the Nigeria international that he has made such a leap and that his importance is now being recognised by the club.

On whether he believes the new and improved Iwobi is here to stay he exclusively told Goodison News: “I do. I’ll be honest with you, he’s been Everton’s most consistent player.
“Even last season when Frank Lampard took over, Alex Iwobi’s consistency has gone right to the top.
“He’s changed a lot of people’s minds. Because a lot of people thought he blows hot and cold. Now he’s probably the first name on the team sheet, and rightly so.
“I’m pleased for him. I’m pleased that Everton have recognised, ‘Look, let’s make sure we tie him down’.
“Because he can play multiple positions and he plays every one just as well now. And fair play to Frank Lampard for getting the best out of him.”

Working on Sky Sports for the Spurs game on Saturday (15 October) injured winger Andros Townsend revealed how Iwobi had been overlooked by former manager Rafael Benitez despite leading fitness stats, and that it had taken the belief shown by Lampard to unleash his true talent.
Add that to the list of things that went wrong under the ex-Liverpool boss then, but better late than never from an Everton perspective.
Lampard deserves credit for recognising what he had in his squad with Iwobi, but the player himself deserves even more to have raised his game so significantly and kept it up during a particularly difficult time for the club.
