Everton loanee Andre Gomes shines in France, Frank Lampard’s decision should be easy
Andre Gomes joined French side Lille on a season-long loan on the transfer deadline day from Everton.
The Toffees signed two midfielders during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, and it allowed Frank Lampard to let Gomes go.
Gomes didn’t play any part in the Premier League this season, and he doesn’t appear to be in Lampard’s short or long-term plans either.

After struggling initially in France, his recent performances have earned him high praise.
He has started the last two games for Lille and played decisive roles as they earned victories in both games.
There are issues with his fitness problems, but it seems he is adjusting well in France.
French football pundit, Jonathan McHardy, recently lavished praise on Gomes, as relayed by Le Petit Lillois.
He said: “André Gomes isn’t the flashiest player, but he’s playing comfortably. He’s a real metronome. I’m quite surprised to see him at LOSC. He’s not even 30 years of age. When he arrived in Barcelona, he came from Valencia and was supposed to be one of the best midfielders in the league.

“He’s not the fastest. I find it hard to understand the Premier League, because in France, when he plays so comfortably like that, he has a vision of the game that is superlative. He’s a player of European level.”
Although he is yet to score or register an assist, it seems he is gradually settling down in France.
Lampard will be pleased with that news as it could make his decision easy next summer, if not already.
The Toffees’ boss doesn’t consider him as part of his plans despite his vast talent, and the Toffees will look to sell him. He has a contract at Everton until 2024, but chances are high that he will be sold in the summer.
If he performs well for Lille, the French club could be interested in signing him permanently at the end of the season. Lampard’s job would become easier in that situation.
