Dominic Calvert-Lewin shares message on Instagram ahead of Newcastle v Everton

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is raring to go as he posted pictures from Everton training ahead of their Premier League clash against Newcastle at St James’ Park on Wednesday (19 October).

The England striker has managed only two substitute appearances so far, after recently returning from a long injury lay-off.

Frank Lampard has made it very clear that the club doesn’t want to rush him, and the club will manage him properly as he looks to finally make his first start of the season.

Calvert-Lewin wrote on the Instagram story: “Getting ready for Newcastle.”

Big moment

Calvert-Lewin still remains the first-choice striker from Lampard. He missed almost the majority of action last season, and picked up an injury again just prior to the new campaign.

He is a fabulous striker but the 25-year-old now needs to build from scratch again. His world cup hopes are gone already, but that should not be his immediate concern.

Calvert-Lewin first needs to prove himself at Everton before he can think of reestablishing his position in the national team. He has missed a lot of football, and it will take time for him to get back to full sharpness.

Neal Maupay has never been shy on social media

The Toffees have bolstered their attacking department this summer by adding Neal Maupay who will be relishing the competition with the England striker.

It looks like Calvert-Lewin could be drafted into the starting line-up against Newcastle, based on his social media activities.

The Toffees have lost back-to-back games in the Premier League, against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, and they should look to avoid a third defeat in a row.
