Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s been told about Everton chase for Jonathan David
Fabrizio Romano has shared what he has been told about Jonathan David’s protracted transfer in January, with Everton among the clubs interested.
The Toffees have been linked with a move for the Canadian international striker, who has scored nine goals in 11 Ligue 1 games this season for Lille.
But speaking on his Caught Offside Substack [19 October], reliable journalist Romano claims says there is “nothing concrete” with Everton at the moment but that could change after the World Cup in November and December.

“There’s a lot of interest in Jonathan David, for sure,” he said. “The 22-year-old has scored nine goals in eleven league games so far this season.
“David was on Tottenham and Arsenal’s list in January 2022 but they both changed their plans.
“At the moment, I’m told there’s nothing concrete with Everton. David will be discussed after the World Cup and we will see which clubs will move.”
Try
We are desperate for firepower up front and David would offer a reliable goal threat that we have lacked for a while now.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin can do it when he’s fit and firing, but he missed the vast majority of last season with injuries and this season has only just got fit again so cannot be relied upon over the course of a season.

Neal Maupay was brought in over the summer, but his goal record has never been spectacular although his overall game is well developed and he offers a lot to the side.
Having them all would allow for Frank Lampard to have great options in attack and give Everton a real element of danger in attack, but he would be expensive.
The Richarlison money was seemingly spent in the summer, but if they have the money to make a big signing in the winter then David would be an excellent addition to the side.
