Everton defender Conor Coady believes the team needs to be more ruthless moving forward

Everton defender Conor Coady believes his team needs to be more ruthless moving forward in Premier League games after Wednesday’s loss to Newcastle.

The Blues put in a lacklustre effort against Newcastle and their lack of chances on goal in the game was worrying, to say the least.

Coady admitted his teammates are lacking a “ruthless streak” in front of the goal and this is something they desperately need to improve on.

“A ruthless streak, a goal, we need to push as a team, we need to be ruthless with it, relentless with it,” said Coady speaking to Evertonfc.com.

“We need to score, it’s as simple as that.”

Everton

Toothless.

Everton were truly toothless in front of goal on Wednesday evening and in a game where Dominic Calvert-Lewin started you’d have expected more from the Blues.

If there was ever an indication that Frank Lampard and Everton needed to dip into the transfer market it was Wednesday’s loss against Newcastle.

The team never looked like scoring and were completely out of ideas whenever they got the opportunity to maybe capitalise.

It’s frustrating to see good midfield play wasted time and time again and there are multiple questions to be asked of the team heading into a crowded fixture schedule.

Calvert-Lewin simply isn’t good enough to lead the Blues frontline and neither is Neal Maupay, someone needs to be brought in to share the expectations of goals.

Jonathan David perhaps? or high-flying Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Diaz, either of these two options the Toffees have been linked with are better than the current strikers at the club.
