Sky Sports pundit gushes over Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Premier League clash v Crystal Palace
Iain Dowie has been thrilled by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s finish as Everton took the lead against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The England international latched onto Alex Iwobi’s pass, muscled his way inside the 18-yard box and slammed the ball into the back of the net.
This was his first goal of the season and gave Toffees a much-needed lead in the game.
Speaking on the Premier League World Feed, Dowie, a Sky Sports pundit said (22/10, 15:07), “Brilliant finish. Does well to win the ball, sit him down and then slots it into the net. Magnificent bit of skill that first bit.”
Class finish
Calvert-Lewin isn’t known for these kinds of finishes as he’s mainly a penalty box striker.
However, here he shows why he can do that along with getting the ball outside the box and driving it past defenders to find the back of the net.
Of late, his performances have been underwhelming but that could be down to the lack of match fitness.
Hopefully, one goal starts a run of a few more as he certainly is someone who is a form player and enjoys purple patches during seasons.
The Everton fans certainly will love him and will hope that he stays fit for an extended period of time and that not going to the World Cup gives him that extra month’s rest.
It seems unlikely that Neal Maupay and Calvert-Lewin play in the same side unless Everton boss Frank Lampard moves to a diamond or a 3-5-2.
