Anthony Gordon Everton goal an emotional roller coaster for Crystal Palace fans in new footage
Anthony Gordon’s goal for Everton put the Crystal Palace fans at Goodison Park on an emotional roller coaster, as shown by new footage.
The Toffees winger tapped home from a yard out on Saturday (22 October) after Vitalii Mykolenko’s shot was parried by Vicente Guaita in the 63rd minute, but the assistant raised his flag to cut his celebrations short and spark new ones among the traveling fans.
But a VAR review confirmed that the 21-year-old was well onside and awarded the goal, which instantly turned the tables between the Park End and the Bullens Road Stand.
The video shared on Twitter showed the away fans going through the full range of emotions as chants of “sit down shut up” are replaced by groans as the rest of the ground erupts into cheers for a second time.
Turnaround
On a day where everything came together for Frank Lampard’s side even an overly conservative call from the referee’s assistant couldn’t prevent the home side taking full control.

For once the video assistant came to the rescue for the Toffees as it was a perfectly good goal which Gary Lineker termed “blindingly obvious” and came at a time that helped make the result safe.
It was also important for Gordon to get on the score sheet again, having gone five games without and missed another through suspension.
His goals are going to be important for Everton going forward, but the return to fitness and form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be even more so.
The striker has had a terrible time with injuries over the last year but looked close to his best at Goodison, scoring his first of the season to set his team on their way.
Toffees supporters rightfully enjoyed their day for one of the most complete home performances from this team for some time, and the Palace contingent will be getting sick of visiting as this game followed the 3-2 turnaround that secured Premier League safety last season.
