Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin opens up on frustrating injury spell
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admitted that the last 12 months of his career were “tough” and “very frustrating”.
The England striker suffered a long injury problem and missed a chunk of action in the present campaign.
He is still working to get back his full sharpness, but his confidence will be high after he scored the opening goal against Palace on Saturday (22 October) at Goodison Park.

“It has been very tough, the most difficult 12 months of my career so far, because I am a football player and all I want to do is play football so when you get that taken away from you,” said Calvert-Lewin, as quoted by Liverpool Echo.
“I appreciate there are much worse things going on in the world, but that is my experience of what I do,” he replied when asked about his spell on the sidelines.
“I play football so to not be able to do that, to be sidelined and then come back and be sidelined again it has been very very frustrating.”
DCL for England?
Calvert-Lewin was also involved in the build-up to the second goal for Anthony Gordon as Everton enjoyed a memorable afternoon.
He netted 21 goals in all competitions during the 2020/21 season, but spent a long spell out with a series of injuries.
Last season, Calvert-Lewin scored the crucial goal and helped Everton secure their top-flight status as he netted the winner in their 3-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace.

After a strong pre-season, when it was expected that he will now fire all cylinders, the Blues were rocked by the news that Calvert-Lewin got injured once again.
Frank Lampard will be absolutely thrilled with Calvert-Lewin’s display and there’s more to come from him this season. He is a top-class striker, and the Toffees need him badly.
The Toffees now have a strong side with depth in every position. If Calvert-Lewin returns to his scoring form, Everton can expect to climb up the ladder quickly.
