Frank Lampard credits hard work on the training ground for Everton goal v Crystal Palace
Everton boss Frank Lampard has credited his team’s hard work on the training ground for their first goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Blues cruised to a 3-0 win on the day and played to a sensational standard, one that Lampard will hope continues into a crucial part of the campaign.
Lampard admitted that his team uncloaked the “magic” for their first goal from training ground discussions coming to life on the pitch.

“Saying getting on the front foot is one thing, but doing it in an organised manner – to not allow a good team to play through you and to do the right things, right movements that we talk about and work on in training – is another,” said Lampard as quoted by evertonfc.com.
“We did both together and that’s when you get the magic. We have to work hard, be aggressive, with a structure – the players did that and that brought us the first goal.”
Calvert-Lewin boost.
The first goal that Lampard speaks so lovingly about was huge for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Everton moving forward, he needed that more than anyone.
Everton still need to invest in a new forward in 2023, but having more than one firing striker wouldn’t go amiss in Lampard’s squad.
Neal Maupay, unfortunately, can’t be relied on to bag goals in every single game for the Toffees but a fit and firing Calvert-Lewin is a problem.
Having the England international paired with a prolific poacher could just prove to be the remedy that Everton is looking for.
Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz and Lille’s Johnathan David have been mooted for moves to Merseyside and both would be seen as terrific additions to the Blues squad.
David seems like a bit of a long shot for Everton but Diaz is very much doable, hopefully, a deal could be made for the Chile international in January.
