Everton defender James Tarkowski ready for England World Cup call up
Everton defender James Tarkowski is dreaming of a last-minute call-up to the England World Cup squad for next month’s tournament.
Tarkowski has been in fine form for Frank Lampard’s side this campaign and has built up a terrific partnership with fellow England international Conor Coady.
The defender admitted that he’s “excited” by the prospect of being called up and believes there is an opportunity with the current injuries to Gareth Southgate’s side.

“If the call comes, I’ll be super excited and ready to go,” he said as quoted by BBC Sport.
“There’s an opportunity there with some of the injuries, maybe some people not playing, so we’ll just see what happens.
“England is not something I’ve ever given up hope on. I think playing for a club like Everton – week in, week out – can only help my chances.
“Every time it comes up in and around an England camp, I always sit there and hope that I’m going to be involved. So we’ll see.”

Chance.
Tarkowski has a solid chance of making Gareth Southgate’s final World Cup squad and is realistically one of the most in-form defenders in the country right now.
And when you consider his blossoming partnership with Coady for Everton, this is something Southgate can reap the rewards of on a national scale.
It would be foolish to not consider Tarkowski, he’s solid, reliable and has all the attributes you’d want from a centre-back, not to mention he’s way better than Harry Maguire.
Selfishly, for Everton’s sake it would be better if Tarkowski stayed on Merseyside, the Blues need their players to get all the rest they can before the Premier League starts again.
Although, it would be a nice sight for Evertonians to see the club’s current menacing centre-back partnership line up for England in Qatar.
Whatever happens, one thing that is for sure is that Tarkowski would thoroughly deserve a call-up if he gets one.
