Udinese want to renew Rodrigo Becao’s contract amid Everton interest

Everton reportedly were the “most insistent” in their pursuit of Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao over the course of the summer transfer window.

According to Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport (October 25, page 19), the Serie A club are aware of the interest shown in the Brazilian defender.

With his deal expiring in 2024, they are not talking publically about a new deal but they do plan to retain the services of the 26-year-old.

Mina replacement?

The Toffees do not need another centre-back in January but if Yerry Mina does end up going, there’s a very good chance that they might enter the market for one.

The Colombian has played only 70 minutes in the league this season and it makes no sense for them to retain his services.

Rather than letting him leave for free, they must capitalise on the interest shown in him as Inter Milan are understood to be keen on making a move.

They are prepared to shell out £8.8million to sign Everton defender and that’s more than what many would expect for the 28-year-old.

Getting that much money would be good for the Toffees as they can sign Becao for roughly the same money and Udinese are unlikely to demand eight figures.

Unless there’s not a super rich club in the race for him, Everton should remain confident of their chances to sign the defender if they still retain the kind of interest they did in the summer and hopefully, they begin talks with him ahead of the window.
