View: Conor Coady’s ‘love’ confession to Wolves could put spanner in Everton transfer plans
Conor Coady recently spoke of his “love” for Wolves, and Everton fans are right to be worried about losing out on him next summer.
Coady has been a colossus for Everton since joining the Toffees on loan from Wolves in the summer. Despite only being at Goodison Park for a few months, he’s already worn the captain’s armband and adopted a leadership role in the squad.
He’s been a major part of Frank Lampard’s new-look defence, so the club’s main concern is keeping him beyond his loan spell next summer.

The Independent reported that Everton would be able to sign Coady for as little as £4.5million next summer, but his recent comments about former club Wolves are a real cause for concern.
“Wolves and myself came to a decision where they were happy with me going – and that was kind of it,” Coady told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
“I was so, so lucky that Everton came in. Listen, Wolves are a fantastic club filled with fantastic people, and it always will be. I love the place to bits.”
Coady also revealed that his reason behind leaving Molineux was that he “wasn’t going to be involved nowhere near as much.” But with Bruno Lage now sacked and Wolves looking for a new boss, Coady could easily come back into the picture.

As the former Wolves captain, there’s no denying Coady’s importance to the side, and Lage quickly found out just how costly his misjudgement of Coady was as his side slumped near the bottom of the Premier League.
But if the new Wolves manager insists on bringing Coady back to the club next summer, Everton could find themselves in a sticky situation.
Coady clearly still adores the club and could face a difficult choice between Wolves and Everton. That could spell major problems for Lampard if he doesn’t decide to stay in Merseyside.
