Everton Women expert delighted with Courtney Brosnan in Aston Villa win

We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, a member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.

Everton Women’s expert Peter MacFarlane was full of praise for goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan after her man-of-the-match display against Aston Villa.

Lucy Graham’s second-half strike was enough for the Toffees who now sit fourth in the Women’s Super League standings after a fine start to the season.

MacFarlane was particularly impressed with Brosnan, particularly with how the 26-year-old commanded her area as Villa pushed for the leveller.

Talking exclusively to Goodison News, MacFarlane said: “Another fine performance on the road against a Villa side who have started the season well. Brilliant performances all over the pitch, Lucy Graham will deservedly get all the plaudits for her excellent winning goal in the second half. Still, my player of the match was goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan.”

“Brosnan commanded her area incredibly, especially as Villa pushed forward for an equaliser. Courtney is such a positive influence on the team, even last season when she was behind Sandy MacIver in the pecking order she was a shining light of positivity, constantly encouraging and supporting her teammates, qualities which she has now brought onto the pitch as our number 1.”

The Toffees kick off their Continental cup campaign on Wednesday (26 October) against the Villans before a huge WSL clash against Manchester United.

A win could take Everton level on points with the Red Devils and into the top three for the first time in the 2022/23 campaign.
