Tempting Pirie to Goodison Park will be a tough ask for the Merseysiders, with Aberdeen said to be extremely keen on keeping the teenager at the club.

The Scottish Premiership side sees Pirie as a future first-team star and will do everything in their power to make sure he stays put in Scotland.

The report suggests Everton isn’t the only English club interested in the Scotland youth striker, with Brighton and Sheffield United also following his progress.

Smart returns.

Investing heavily in your youth ranks is always smart and one that will pay dividends for Everton in the long term.

Pirie is a prime example of a talented youngster who could be molded into something far greater by the youth coaches at Finch Farm.

Scotland seems to be producing some outstanding players in recent years, Everton’s current right-back Nathan Patterson is one of a number who are thriving.

The allure of the Premier League gives the Blues a huge advantage in this one, the youngster will find it tough to turn down if Everton does make a move.

Aberdeen have already fast-forwarded Pirie’s promotion to the first team to fend off interest, he joined in with their training this week.

A sign of intent perhaps? or just kudos to the teenagers’ abundance of talent, it seems Everton’s interest has left the alarm bells ringing whatever the case may be.
