Mark Schwarzer blown away by Everton star Jordan Pickford v Fulham

Mark Schwarzer has showered heaps of praise on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he made a couple of “brilliant” save against Fulham.

The Toffees managed to keep the scoreline 0-0 at the break against Fulham at Craven Cottage, and Pickford has played a big role in it.

Demarai Gray and Dominic Calvert-Lewin came close to scoring for the Toffees in the first half.

“Absolutely brilliant save from Pickford as he sees it late. The ball just pops to Willian who hits it first time and Pickford pushes off and saves with his top hand. Great save,” said Schwarzer as relayed by BBC Sport.

Encouraging

Frank Lampard will be very happy with how his team played in the first half.

The Toffees were disciplined at the back, with the center-back duo James Tarkowski and Conor Coady being absolutely superb.

However, it was Pickford who has kept the Toffees in the game. He produced a brilliant save to deny Willian, and then made another outstanding save moments later.

Everton have a wretched record away from home, but the Toffees have started strongly here.

Everton

Lampard’s side is growing in confidence following their win against Crystal Palace in their previous game.

Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray have looked sharp so far, but we need more effort from the two full-backs. There has been an attempt made to go direct but need more deliveries from the flanks.

Frank Lampard was furious after Mitrovic made a challenge on Idrissa Gueye which looked really nasty. It has been an entertaining first half, and Lampard’s side are very much in the game to pick up all three points.
