Everton confident Alex Iwobi will sign five-year extension at Goodison Park

Everton are reportedly confident that in-form midfielder Alex Iwobi will put pen to paper to a new deal at Goodison Park.

According to All Nigeria Soccer on 31 October, if the 26-year-old agrees terms with the club, he will be signing a five-year extension.

Frank Lampard confirmed recently that the Toffees were in talks with the Nigeria international over a new deal and it’s understood that an offer is on the table and it’s down to him to accept it or not.

Everton

Should be done

Nobody would’ve thought that almost three months into the season and Iwobi would be the most important and consistent player for Everton.

There were even calls from the fans to cash in on him in the summer but due to him impressing in pre season, Lampard decided to take the punt on him.

Iwobi always has been the player who’s impressed in training but has failed to deliver the goods on matchdays.

However, it’s fair to say he has proven everyone wrong this season as he’s emerged to be one of the league’s best players in his new number eight role.

He has also provided five assists and has been an important part of the club’s build-up and has also been phenomenal at regaining possession and linking up with the attacking players.

Lampard deserves all the credit in the world for seeing what nobody else could and managing to get the best of a player who had not been performing for a number of seasons.
