Don Hutchison blown away as Liverpool Echo share previously unseen footage of new Everton stadium

Don Hutchison is blown away by new footage of the new Everton stadium being built at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Liverpool Echo shared a video clip via their Instagram page on Friday (4 November), showing previously unseen footage at the top of the new £500million stadium, looking down towards where the pitch will be upon completion.

Ex-Evertonian Hutchison took to his personal Twitter account to share the short video clip to express how amazed he is by how the construction project is getting along.

“N.S.N.O. Everton’s new stadium looking amazing,” said the BT Sport pundit.

A new dawn

It’s mad to see that the stadium is now taking shape and is slowly asserting itself on the Merseyside landscape.

It’s going to be a beautiful stadium. But will it feel like home?

We’ve seen mixed success from teams who’ve moved into new stadiums in recent years.

Arsenal’s success started to die out when they demolished Highbury to move to the Emirates while West Ham took a few years to stabilise at the London Stadium before making themselves a mainstay of European competition under David Moyes.

Brentford have come up to the Premier League from the EFL for the first time ever and look as though they could be set for a long-term stay in the top flight in their new home.

Tottenham’s settling-in period at their new stadium didn’t seem to have as much of an effect as a change of management and playing squad but outside of the capital, it’s hard to judge how a move will pan out.

Goodison Park is a landmark of English football.

It will be missed. But, at the same time, you have to admit that maybe it’s time to move onto something bigger, newer and, ultimately, better.
